An East Bridgewater teen who was killed in a single-car crash in Middleborough early Sunday morning is being remembered as a “sweet, gentle, caring, and loving boy.”
Joseph Saccone, 18, died after the car he was driving crashed into a tree on Marion Road around 2:40 a.m. on April 6, authorities said previously. Saccone died at Boston Medical Center surrounded by his family, according to his obituary.

Joseph R. Saccone was born in Brockton to Joseph C. and Nicole Saccone on Dec. 1, 2006, according to his obituary. He grew up in Whitman and attended Duval Elementary School before moving to East Bridgewater in 2019.
Saccone was “eagerly anticipating” his upcoming graduation from East Bridgewater High School when he died, according to his obituary. In his spare time, he enjoyed attending concerts, playing video games, listening to “old school rap,” writing and singing his own songs, playing with his dog, Shelby, and hanging out with friends and family.
“He loved his sister, Samantha Saccone, so much and was so proud to be a big brother,” his obituary reads.

Saccone worked at Johnny Macaroni’s — a small, local chain of Italian restaurants located on the South Shore, according to his obituary.
“He was so happy and always smiling and respectful around his co-workers. He even earned the nickname ‘The Brillo King’ due to his love of cleaning the dish area,” his obituary reads.
Johnny Macaroni’s mourned Saccone in a Monday Facebook post.
“Joe was a cherished employee who will be sorely missed by everyone,” the restaurant wrote. “With his quirky personality, smiling face and undeniable love for old school rap it was impossible not to smile when he was around. Joe was always respectful to his co-workers, whether it was coming into work with ‘Hi Chef’ or leaving for the night with ‘appreciate you guys.‘”
Many of Saccone’s friends and family members also wrote heartfelt Facebook posts mourning his death.
“Joey Saccone, you where there for me when no one else was,” one friend wrote.

Saccone is survived by his parents, sister, grandparents and many other beloved friends and relatives, according to his obituary. A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help his parents pay for his funeral.
Visiting hours for Saccone are scheduled for 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, at the Blanchard’s Funeral Chapel in Whitman, according to his obituary. A funeral service is set to follow the next day at the chapel at 11 a.m.
