SCAI & CRT Partner to Transform Interventional Cardiology: Education, Advocacy, and Research (2025)

Bold Collaboration to Transform Interventional Cardiology: SCAI and CRT Unite to Accelerate Innovation, Education, and Research

A landmark alliance between the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) and Cardiovascular Research Technologies (CRT) was announced today, signaling a shared commitment to advance interventional cardiology through joint education, policy advocacy, and forward-looking research initiatives.

Key elements of the partnership include discounted CRT 2026 registration for SCAI members and the development of co-hosted educational programs. In addition, SCAI will coordinate an annual Day on the Hill advocacy event tied to the CRT meeting in Washington, DC, underscoring the organizations’ joint focus on policy and patient outcomes. Over time, SCAI and CRT will explore collaborative research efforts, including the creation of registries and new clinical trial programs.

"Collaboration is essential to the future of medicine—especially interventional cardiology—and SCAI remains dedicated to improving patient outcomes. This partnership aligns SCAI’s and CRT’s missions to advance the field through collaboration, science, advocacy, regulatory policy, and education. Despite approaching these goals from different angles, the unity of vision is clear, and SCAI eagerly anticipates the benefits of working with CRT," said Srihari S. Naidu, MD, MS, SCAI president.

A guiding body, the SCAI–CRT Task Force, will oversee the collaboration, with representatives from both organizations identifying and coordinating joint opportunities. To support these efforts, SCAI will establish a research-working group to evaluate projects such as registries and clinical trials, to be submitted by SCAI, its members, and CRT’s research network. CRT will supply core laboratory services, and both organizations will collaborate to secure external funding.

Thoughtful quotes from leadership:

  • "Together, we will open new pathways for physician engagement, drive innovation, and develop programs that tackle the clinical and policy challenges facing our field. By leveraging our combined strengths, investigator-led research can accelerate, professional development can broaden, and patient care can improve," stated J. Dawn Abbott, MD, MS, chair of the SCAI–CRT Partnership Task Force and president-elect of SCAI.

  • "CRT’s collaboration with SCAI broadens the impact of both organizations by connecting clinical science, advocacy, and education in ways that fuel innovation and unite experts across cardiovascular medicine. Our shared goal is to strengthen the research pipeline, inspire the next generation of interventionalists, and ensure patients everywhere benefit from rapid advances in the interventional lab," remarked Ron Waksman, MD, MS, chair of the CRT meeting.
